Beauty… it’s an interesting concept that we all have very strong emotions towards. We all can appreciate a flower blooming or a marvelous production being put together as beautiful. Music is beautiful but whether you like the personal music piece I pick is a unique preferences. And so when we look at ourselves we feel we can critique it. But why? A flower IS beautiful – it just is. Music as a concept IS beautiful. Whether the flower is your favorite color or your allergies are in play is beside the point. Whether you like the music does not mean music is ugly.
So let us translate this to ourselves. You are beautiful – you just are! Whether you are healthy and taking the best care of you right now, or you are a “hot mess” is beside the point. Take the compliment and see yourself as a marvelous beautiful human being designed by the creator of the universe! Needing to improve something doesn’t negate its beauty. This is the body positive movement in a nut shell. I know many people who are on opposite sides of this “movement”. Some believing it is a place to give people license to be “unhealthy” and call it positive. Here is what I want to say about it. Body positivity is not trying to deny that some of us need work. It is not saying that ALL of us can’t find something to do to take better care of ourselves. Because we can.
To acknowledge, even in our flawed states that God see’s us and made us and says we are worthy in our now is vital to being able to transform and see our value. When you see something’s value as irrefutably precious you take better care of it. I also want to make a note here that out of all the different people I have come in contact with I have never met someone where beating themselves up and shaming actually sustained true healthy lifestyle choices and mindsets. Ever. I hope you remember that. Most of all I hope our daughters remember that.
Sam Levenson –“We leave you a tradition with a future. The tender loving care of human beings will never become obsolete. People even more than things have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed and redeemed and redeemed and redeemed. Never throw out anybody.”
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalms 139:14
Aww this is a really nice reminder ❤️ so true we’re beautiful as we are
