False Prophets

The Media has been toting all kinds of propaganda and lies. This is not new. It also is not something that will go away. So how do we differentiate what is real, what is false, what has a deceitful agenda backing it and what is true versus lucky options coming to pass? Sometimes we want to plant new thoughts, to grow and become all that Christ intended. However, other times we need to uproot old or misrepresentations first in order to allow room for growth.

Better yet, How do we know if a pastor/priest/disciple is truthful? The Bible states in Mathew to be aware of false prophets which come to you in sheeps clothing. It also states that we will know them by the fruits that they bare. There are many who claim too prophesying in the name of God. Often we can see plainly who is false and who is genuine. Other times we must take a very close look before we see their true character. Sometimes it takes years of listening to them before we realize they are in fact false and have wrong motives.

To be a gifted mouth of fresh revelations is a very heavy burden indeed! Yet, if God’s word is complete and the warnings of adding anything to it is to be considered as grave as we state it to be, along with His fulfilled prophecy of Jesus Christ complete within it, — why then would we need anything other than the Bible and Holy Spirit?

Anyone that listens to a self-proclaimed prophet should do so with the Word of God to guide him as he does.

1 John 4:1 to test every spirit and to not believe thees many false prophets:

If we can add words to scriptures then The Book of Mormon and Mohammad’s writings can also be used.

I Cor 13: 8 says Love never fails. But where there are prophieces, they will cease; —.

The final revelation has come to us in Jesus Christ and we have the full and complete scriptures now. Therefore my belief is that we don’t need prophets today because we have the Holy Scriptures and the Holy Spirit.

Mark 13:32-36 says to take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.

According to this anyone who is listening to people say they are the “mouthpiece of God” or that they have prophetic words about what will happen next that is not ‘a direct quote from Revelation, is under this scripture a heretic. Even false teachers can get it right sometimes but only God has the full revelation and has even told us he won’t reveal it. Anyone that is not preaching the Word of God and pointing back to Jesus is false.

Now many people would argue with me on this; ferociously. I even have extended family who believe differently on this topic and they would state other scriptures and arguments to state there are prophets even now and we should listen and obey what they say. If you believe in this way here are 5 things that a prophet must be to be scripturally accurate.

1. – They cannot mis-speak on prophetic words or timelines at any point.

To say they are the mouth piece of God and that something will happen on such and such a date and then back track that such date is not God. God is a God of truth and he is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. To change agendas or timelines is to state either one God is wrong or two they didn’t hear from God correctly. This means they weren’t God’s words but mans. They can not go against God’s word in any at there prophesies because to do so is to negate God himself.

2. – They cannot use the platform to prosperity of their own.

This is a charlatan with a love of money above what God is saying

3.- They cannot devalue or abuse in the name of God.

God is a God of love and unity. If a prophet upholds certain people or politics and blasts others in hate he is not in a spirit of love. God is love- therefore it is not of God.

4. A person that re-configures or shifts initial prophesies is false

This persons word is not infallible. Run away.

5. They cannot use their position as a way to supersede a believers relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Any time someone has a word for you and yet the Holy Spirit has not revealed this to yourself you must test it for its validation with the Word of
God and with the help of the Holy Spirit.

1 Timothy 1:14 Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

Many self proclaimed prophetic words are words of motivation for action. Like in the old testament when groups of people needed to repent to prevent destruction a prophet would tell them what action needed to take place. However because of this, It can be used as a tactic to motivate people groups incorrectly when prophets use it as a tool for personal or governing group control. If these “words from the Lord” do not align with scripture or are for money or political gain they are not of God, they are of man.

I hope this encourages you to take responsibility for your own journey of faith. To know the scriptures for yourself and to be cautious of those who say they have been told by God on your behalf what is to come, or what to do/not do in your own journey. This is not to say people do not have words of wisdom or encouragement for others. But anyone who says they have a word for you and yet it does not stand in line with the Holy Spirit is false.

Be encouraged! We are to be watchful and wise when allowing others a place to “speak for God” or on “behalf of God, for you”.

“Draw aside, into the secret place no one but you and God can explore. This is a place from which all questions can be revered. Doubts and struggles are safe to open up and wrestle with, in this place. Tears are welcome.” Jenneth Graser, Look Up
